Writing for Textbroker

I've recently became a member of Textbroker. I've found it quite interesting - writing articles about various topics from mold to 3rd world countries. I've been rated a number 4 out of a possible high of 5. I'm brushing up on punctuation and hoping to improve my rating.

Some of the requirements of the posted requests are not my style. I have a hard time being confined to a set of keywords to be mentioned a specific number of times. I am learning, though, as it seems the way of writing for the internet. I like writing naturally. Somehow forcing certain words in seems artificial.

I am really excited about all the opportunities I've found for writing lately.

A look back at 2011

As I look back on 2011, I am amazed. I concentrated on freelancing full-time, and did what I really enjoy — write. I feel pleased and fulfilled with my career.

An important bonus is that I actually made money. I read about writers making financially by freelancing full-time, but I was doubtful that I could be a part of those few. I am looking forward to see what the Lord has in store for me for 2012.

Three Natural Beauty Essentials

Anyone interested in living a green lifestyle, or living a life as chemical free as possible, probably finds buying beauty care products confusing. There are so many “natural” products on the market. One has to read labels and be discerning, because popular buzz words don’t always mean what one may think. Ground almonds, baking soda, and coconut oil are great natural items to incorporate into your regimen. Read more about Three Natural Beauty Essentials at Suite 101.

AOL's Seed

What happened to AOL Seed? Apparently they are gone. They haven't shown any assignments for quite some time. I check in periodically, but none have shown up. I thought it was me, but then I found this article. So I guess that I'm not the only one not showing any assignments. It is odd that the Seed website doesn't mention anything about there being no assignments for several months.

Several web content providers have taken a hard hit by the Google algorithm change. Maybe it's the economy too, lots of people and industries have been knocked down over the past year or two. While unemployment keeps getting worse, freelance writers are not immune.

Google Ads

Does anyone click Google ads anymore? I wondered about this for awhile. I don't click. I can't for a few reasons. Number one is that I have an AdSense account and don't want to be accused of click fraud. I also have OpenDNS that blocks the ads, so I couldn't click if I wanted to. My husband has a similar ad blocking program on his computer. Many times the ads don't even show up on the pages he is reading.

An informal poll on I-Say, a market research and online survey company, revealed that 64.7% of people never click on Google Ads, while 29.4 rarely click.

So that would explain why revenue share sites bring writers so little money and why it seems difficult to the average person to make much money with Google AdSense.

Soothe an Itchy, Dry Scalp with Organic Shampoo

Organic shampoo contains natural ingredients such as botanicals and essential oils that soothe itching and dryness. They are often milder than regular shampoo, which can be drying and irritating. Non-organic shampoos that contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), detergents, artificial ingredients, and perfumes irritate sensitive skin or skin conditions such as eczema. School is back in session

I'm getting back into the swing of things after spending my summer being a mom. The nice thing about working at home as a freelancer is that I'm free to spend time with my kids when they are out of school. Plus I decided it was better to just take it easy, rather than deal with the frustration of interruptions when I'm trying to get an article done or meet a deadline.

Now they are back in school, and I'm back to work with many fresh ideas and raring to go.
